Here in Japan, Friday, January 5th was the first day of classes in 2018. I took some of my Japanese students to Naminoue Shrine (Jinja) to pray for a good year. Naminoue Shrine is located fairly near to our vocational college, so we walked. Some other teachers from LIFE Jr. College joined us. Both Naminoue Shrine and LIFE Jr. College in located in Naha City, Okinawa, Prefecture, Japan.

For many years I have been taking my students to pray at shrines early in the new year. After all, I have been teaching English in Okinawa, Japan for 17 years.
