.

I have finished repairing and cleaning this Ibanez Gio GRX70DX (or sometimes called GRX-70DX) solid body electric guitar.

I found this Ibanez Gio in the junk section at a local recycle/reuse shop (secondhand store) near my home here in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.

This particular Ibanez Gio has a Black Night (BKN) finish and chrome hardware. But I think its Sharktooth Inlays highlight its appearance.

I cleaned it up as much as I could. However, it is in a used condition, so there are some minor scratches and dents. Still, this Ibanez Gio is a good looking Super Strat. But I do love my Ibanez RG Series Made in Japan electric guitar more.

The Ibanez Gio GRX70DX came with Ibanez pickups in an HSH (humbucker - single coil - humbucker) configuration, which is why it is considered as Super Strat.

Unlike most other Ibanez Gio electric guitars with dot inlays on the fretboard, this Ibanez Gio GRX70DX has Sharktooth inlay position markers similar to high-end Ibanez electric guitars. I think the Sharktooth inlays look awesome.

Also, unlike most Ibanez super strat guitars with 24 frets, this Ibanez Gio GRX70DX has 22 frets only. Also, the frets are medium sized.

The Ibanez Gio GRX70DX was made from 2008 till 2012 in China where tons of guitars are being manufactured nowadays. In fact, more and more great guitars are being made in China. Made in China guitars does not always mean low-quality.

It's a solid body guitar made of either of poplar or nato wood. The bolt-on neck is made of one-piece maple. The fretboard is made out of rosewood. The scale length is 25.5" (inches) or 648 mm (millimeters), which is the same scale length as Stratocasters, Telecasters, and some other Fender electric guitars.

It has an Ibanez branded FAT-6 tremolo system with Ibanez branded saddles. The tremolo arm (or whammy bar) is included.

Looking in the electronics cavity I noticed some red paint which leads me to believe that this particular electric guitar was refinished in black, but I may be wrong.

The electronics for this guitar are quite simple, but everything is working fine now.

There is a 5-way pickup selector. You would use this selector to switch between different pickups and/or pickup configurations. The first position is for the bridge (or the rear) pickup. The second position is for both the bridge pickup and the middle pickup. The third position is for the middle pickup. The fourth position is for both the middle pickup and the neck (or front) pickup. The fifth position is for the neck pickup.

And there are two 500k potentiometers (pots). One of the pots works as the master volume control and the other one serves as the master tone control. I like this sound this guitar makes.

I was a bit surprised that I could not find a serial number on this guitar. There wasn't one on the back of the headstock nor one on the neck heel.

Nor was I able to find a model number printed or stamped on the back of the headstock.

Interestingly, though, I did find a sticker of a guitar shop or music store in the Netherlands on the back of the headstock.

I was able to identify the model number of this Ibanez by the stickers under both of the humbucking pickups.

I gave this Ibanez Gio electric guitar a proper setup and it is now a very fine player. However, it doesn't feel as good as the Ibanez RG electric guitar that I own. Nor does it sound as good as my RG Series guitar.
So, I plan to sell this used Gio guitar. I'll include an Ibanez soft case (gig bag), a guitar stand, a guitar strap, a guitar pick, a new set of electric guitar strings (9s), and a string winder. I was very happy to rescue this junk electric guitar. It wasn't junk at all; it just needed some basic repairs and some tender loving care (TLC).
I hope to find a new home for it so it can continue to make more music. Hopefully, a young budding musician can use this particular guitar to start his or her journey into the joys of playing guitar.
