Today is February 14th, 2018, so Happy Valentine's Day to You! I hope you have a lovely day!

My lovely wife, Izumi, gave me a nice box of chocolates. I ate some already and they were delicious!

Valentine's Day here in Japan is quite different from how Valentine's Day is celebrated in my home country of America. Here in Japan the women give Valentine's Day gifts to the men. Most often these gifts are boxes of chocolates. And, unlike the United States, Japan has another special occasion one month later on March 14th. In Japan, March 14th is known as White Day and, on White Day, it is the men who give White Day gifts to women.
Of course in the USA - and several other countries - it is usually the men who give Valentine's Day gifts to the women. Popular gifts that American men give to their wives or girlfriends include bouquets of flowers, jewelry, and so on.
