I hadn't bought a new guitar since 1994, but I recently bought this one from the great guys who work at Good Guys Music in Honolulu, Hawaii. I even bought this T-shirt from them and some other guitar gear (CTS pots, MojoTone caps, a bass guitar bridge, etc.).

This is my new Fender American Performer Telecaster in Vintage White. That is the official Fender name for this color, but my wife said it was a pretty pastel yellow. She's a sweetheart, and out to buy a new matching Fender guitar strap just for this guitar.

I have decided that I would tune this guitar in Open G Tuning (instead Standard E Tuning), so I have something different to learn and experience. I think it'll be interesting and fun. So, anyways... Now, at the age of 56 I have a Tele for the very first time in my life.

I used to think, for the longest time, that the Telecaster design was awkward and unattractive especially compared to other popular guitar designs such as the Stratocaster, Les Paul, the SG, and even the Ibanez RG. So, I have never owned any Telecasters. But, damn! That neck feels so good in my hand.

Normally I like buying used or broken guitars and basses, and fixing them up or modifying them. But I won't be doing anything of that sort with this guitar.
