I work at Senmon Gakkou LIFE Jr. College here in Okinawa, Japan. Currently, we are in the 2nd Academic Term, which started in October and will end in February 2020. At LIFE Jr. College, I am the chief of the English Department. In my opinion, the English Department at LIFE Jr. College is second to none among Senmon Gakkou (vocational training colleges) here in Okinawa, Japan. I am fortunate to work with an excellent group of English language teachers.
I have been working as an English language instructor here in Okinawa, Japan since the year 2001, which is now 18 years. And I intend to continue teaching the English language here in Okinawa, Japan for many more years to come. Teaching the English language to Senmon Gakkou students is a joy for me. In addition to teaching the English language I also teach cultural classes.
In addition to working as a teacher of the English language, I also work as the Study Abroad Coordinator. I have specialized as a study abroad coordinator for a couple of decades, and I do not plan on stopping any time soon. Sending Japanese students overseas to study abroad in English-speaking countries (i.e., the United States of America, Canada, Australia, etc.) is certainly a lot of work, but it also brings me lots of joy.
Furthermore, at LIFE Jr. College I also work as a homeroom teacher. A homeroom teacher in Japan serves as an academic advisor. Also, as a homeroom teacher I host numerous class activities including an ice cream sundae party, a US Independence Day Hot Dog lunch party, a Halloween party, and international potluck party, a Christmas party, and a graduation party. My homeroom also has various outings as well.
Plus, I help plan and organize different annual school events and special events for the English Department (i.e., Happy Halloween Party, Merry Christmas Party, etc.). Also for the college, I help promote the college and recruit new students in the public relations (PR) department.
It is true that I do a lot at Senmon Gakkou LIFE Jr. College and that I do work quite hard there, but it is certainly an enjoyable experience for me. I totally enjoy working as a faculty member at LIFE Jr. College.
